HPA® Expands Popular Event, Unveils Plans For HPA Tech Retreat UK
London and Indian Wells, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2016 -- The Hollywood Professional Association (HPA®) has unveiled plans for a regional version of its preeminent event, the HPA Tech Retreat, to be held in the UK this July. The HPA Tech Retreat UK is the first example of an HPA global focus enabled by its affiliation with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®). SMPTE and the HPA are partnering to present the event. The 2016 HPA Tech Retreat UK will take place at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire, Wednesday and Thursday, 13-14 July 2016.
The HPA Tech Retreat UK is co-chaired by Jerry Pierce, HPA Vice President, and Richard Welsh, former SMPTE Governor for EMEA, Central and South America Regions. The event was announced this week at the 21st Annual HPA Tech Retreat near Palm Springs, California. Pierce stressed, “The Tech Retreat is unique, and the UK version will be uniquely British as well. We will take the essential ingredients that have made the HPA Tech Retreat such a powerful combination of intense knowledge transfer and dynamic personal interaction, adapted for the UK”.
HPA’s Seth Hallen noted, “With its Hollywood base and focus, HPA coming to the UK is rooted in our desire to ‘compare notes,’ collaborate and engage with industry professionals and like-minded organizations on issues of common and future interests”.
The programme is in development, with a few sessions already announced. Sessions include a rare opportunity to look behind the scenes at tentpole productions that have a firm foothold in both the UK and Hollywood, from major motion pictures and television productions, and more. Other panels will include broadcasters, technology thought-leaders and those at work on a variety of informative projects and processes. The HPA Tech Retreat programme committee, including Leon Silverman and Seth Hallen, will collaborate with Welsh and Pierce and the SMPTE team.
Richard Welsh noted, “Those familiar with HPA Tech Retreat in the US, will recognise its mainstays at Tech Retreat UK. The carefully curated main conference, including its ‘Supersession’ which focuses on the hot topics of the industry, the breakfast roundtables, the Innovation Zone, and, of course, the networking and camaraderie that mark this event – our venue lends itself quite nicely to that”.
Pierce quipped, “The fact that this event is being held at the Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire, a circa 1700’s English country house turned luxury hotel and conference venue will create a unique environment with the right combination of information and mingling”.
As at the HPA Tech Retreat in Indian Wells, California, companies driving change and innovation gather to explore, understand and debate the trends and technologies of the future, while tackling head-on the issues of the present. Barbara Lange, Executive Director of SMPTE and HPA, concluded, “The HPA Tech Retreat UK will present as many valuable opportunities for knowledge, connection, and community as the Retreat in Palm Springs, does. Once again, the event this week in California has sold out and every part of every day is full of interesting topics, and conversation. That’s because the content and connections are unparalleled, and we are confident that we will have an equally exciting time in Oxfordshire!”
Registration has opened today. The Call for Proposals will be announced shortly, as well as the application information for the technology demo area and the Innovation Zone.
