HSHS Medical Group has launched HSHS Medical Group Virtual Care, an innovative health initiative which uses technology to provide 24/7 medical care to patients using a computer or mobile device. On May 5th, patients can access Virtual Care through http://www.anytimecare.com

Through a traditional phone call or online using a computer webcam, tablet or smart phone, patients connect with physicians who can diagnose and treat issues that do not require emergency attention such as allergies, colds, flu, respiratory and sinus infections, bladder infections, bites and stings, fevers, headaches, pink eye, rashes, stomach flu, urinary tract infections, yeast infections and other health concerns.

“We are excited to elevate patient-first care to a new level through virtual care,” said Loren Hughes, MD, President of HSHS Medical Group. “Through digital devices patients use every day, virtual care offers access to experienced, board-certified physicians at any time of the night or day.”

During the virtual visit, the physician evaluates the patient, makes a diagnosis and determines a treatment plan, which might include calling a prescription into a pharmacy or referring the patient to an emergency department if the case is serious. All calls are private and completely secure. The cost of virtual care is $50 per visit.

With virtual care, health care becomes more convenient and less time consuming. Virtual care offers immediate access to a physician, eliminating the need to schedule an appointment or drive to a doctor’s office.

“HSHS Medical Group embraces technology to improve health care,” said Vincent Noel, Director of Business Development. “Virtual care is an innovative way to expand access to health care in Central and Southern Illinois.”

The new delivery model is a natural extension of HSHS Medical Group’s Patient-First Care goal to increase patient access to care on a 24/7 basis.

“Virtual care makes health care available to patients in the most convenient, cost-effective way possible,” said Melinda Clark, Chief Executive Officer. “HSHS Medical Group is proud to be at the forefront of virtual care, and we are excited to use this tool to serve our patients better.”
