Retail Sales Numbers Reveal Which States Spend The Most On Halloween Online
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- According to retail predictions, Americans are predicted to shell out a whopping $6.9 billion on costumes, candy and décor this holiday season.
But which states are spending the most at online Halloween retailers?
Data from ShopAtHome.com, the largest coupon search engine that connects upwards of 12 million consumers each month to exclusive deals and Cash Back savings, shows that in the last 13 months, Delaware spent more at online Halloween stores per order than any other state, averaging more than $40 per purchase. The state most frugal when it comes to online Halloween spending? Utah, with an average purchase order of $8.24.
In South Dakota, Halloween online savings is hot. The Mount Rushmore State snagged the highest Cash Back rewards on Halloween purchases, with shoppers receiving 13 percent of their money back through ShopAtHome.com. Being thrifty? Definitely a treat.

"From Delaware to New Mexico to Alaska to Michigan, people are using online coupons and benefiting from Cash Back websites for Halloween costumes and accessories.”
Superstitious?
ShopAtHome.com data shows shoppers spend less money online at Halloween stores on days when a full moon is in effect, but, interestingly, receive more Cash Back on those days. Conversely, online shoppers spend more at Halloween stores on Friday the 13th, compared to all other Fridays, but earn less Cash Back on the superstitious date. Average purchase amounts on Friday the 13ths through the year are $34.01 compared to $26.48 on other Fridays.
Eerie, huh?
Don’t forget the candy…
Of course, Halloween just wouldn’t be Halloween without a plastic pumpkin full of sweet treats. An unscientific survey conducted on the ShopAtHome.com Google+ page found Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are the most popular candy when it comes to trick-or-treating (followed by Snickers, Kit Kats and M&Ms, respectively). The least favorite treat to receive door-to-door? Charlie Brown is not alone: Most respondents said a rock would be the worst “treat”, followed closely by a box of raisins. Also ranking on the worst candy list were a popcorn ball and a toothbrush.
