LAPD narcotics officer Hank Foresta defends War on Drugs in new memoir
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) December 12, 2013 -- The new memoir, “LAPD Chronicles: The War on Drugs: A Personal Account How It Began and Why It Makes Sense” (published by Trafford Publishing), by retired Los Angeles Police Department narcotics detective Hank Foresta, captures the close calls, chases and criminals Foresta collared and helped send to prison while working as an undercover agent and as a supervisor for the Narcotics Division. The book also features a foreword by former LAPD Chief Daryl F. Gates.
“A neighbor convinced me to join law enforcement, and I ended up with LAPD,” recalls Foresta. “While still in the academy, I was selected by two narcotic officers to go undercover, instead of putting on a uniform. That changed my career and my life.”
Part memoir and part assessment of the War on Drugs, “LAPD Chronicles” details the triumphs and frustrations of Foresta’s life on the force. As a veteran of the Narcotics Division, Foresta has developed a keen insight on the drug problems in the United States, from trafficking to prosecuting offenders. “The supply of drugs will not stop – like a communicable disease it rushes through each and every neighborhood, killing and destroying lives,” Foresta laments.
“LAPD Chronicles” will wow readers with Foresta’s thrilling accounts of his undercover operations while giving an insider’s view on the War on Drugs. Of his readers, Foresta says, “I hope they enjoy reading the book, but I also want them to realize that without fighting this horrible addiction they will destroy the very fabric of our society.”
