‘Happenchance’ Holds Exhibit at 2016 NY Library Association
VASHON, Wash. (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- “Happenchance” (published by AuthorHouse) by Walt Lewis presents a heartwarming, heart-felt familial comedic drama. It brilliantly weaves Shakespearean soliloquies with his bedeviling NYPD actual police stories. The entertaining character dialogue develops its readers with a range of simple and complex language underpinnings that include the awareness of rhyming speech sounds, spelling patterns, word meanings, grammar and poetic models of word formation, all of which provide a necessary platform for reading fluency and comprehension. Lewis ties his “Happenchance” theme of familial forgiveness to his passionate intention to transform police community relations, neighborhood by neighborhood, by way of his open invitation at spiritinblue.com.
"Happenchance" presents delightful wordplay and rhyming between a grandfather and his granddaughter whose proclivity is to be just herself, as she enthusiastically examines his words with her handheld electronic dictionary. The protagonist character Arthur, a retired NYPD mounted police captain, learns through unfolding events that life, much like riding a horse, requires ‘easing the reins.’ Playfully intense, this comedic drama is woven with entertaining familial memories and surprising revelations.
Arthur engages in humorous and dramatic theatrics by using purposeful wordplay with his precocious young granddaughter Danielle, who aspires to be a journalist one day. But what links Danielle to Arthur’s invited guest Lily? Lily is Danielle’s mother who has been away for several years and is now visiting, anonymously seeking Danielle’s forgiveness for abandoning her at an early age. And why does Danielle’s father Theron resent Arthur’s grandfatherly wordplay theatrics so deeply? The drama intensifies with Arthur’s son-in-law Theron, a wishful treasure hunter, having ambivalent feelings about this imminent return of his wife Lily who he perceives as having abandoned them. Lewis invites you to check out “Happenchance” at the 2016 NY Library Association.

About the Author
Walt Lewis retired from the NYPD Mounted Police with the rank of Captain. For 35 years, he served in many precincts and specialized units. His greatest passion and joy came while serving as a Personnel Training Lieutenant in the Special Operations Division. His love for acting began at a young age, while playing the part of Shylock in “The Merchant of Venice.” It continued during his senior years, as he applied Rudolph Steiner’s speech and movement techniques with the Chekhovian method of acting. As a playwright, he adroitly integrated his actual police experiences with select Shakespearean soliloquies, giving thoughtful meaning to his service in the NYPD and dramatizing his love of Shakespeare. Lewis continually searches for and practices self-growth transformational strategies.
