Former prison Chaplain Harold F. Green Gives Inmates a Voice
JANESVILLE, Calif. (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- Author and retired prison chaplain Harold F. Green shares eye-opening, first-hand accounts of experiences with prison inmates and gives an insider’s glimpse into the industrial prison complex in his new book, “Prison Stories: Living The Life Of A Prison Chaplain” (published by AuthorHouse).
“This book is a story or series of stories about people. People in prison: some are employees, but most are inmates,” Green shares. “In prison everyone has a story and most want to tell their story. It is often a story of violence, a story of loneliness, and in many cases the horror of the unknown.”
Green spent countless hours listening to the stories of various inmates during the course of his career. He recounts details about the children of inmates, their families and those who minister to the incarcerated. Readers are invited to take a peek into the cells that house millions of Americans and discover what life is truly like on the inside.

About the Author
Harold F. Green first encountered prison ministry when he went with his minister father to minister in local prisons after church services on Sunday afternoon. As a sergeant in the Korean war, he saw the urgent need for prison chaplains for both the Americans as well as the Koreans. Upon returning home he attended Stetson University in Deland, Florida then pursued further education in Berkeley, Calif., at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, leading to his doctorate. After serving as Chaplain at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., he entered the local church ministry. He served churches in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Nevada and California. This ultimately led to the prison chaplaincy at San Quentin and finally ended at High Desert State Prison in Susanville, Calif. He was the first chaplain employed at this new prison. He served there until he retired to live on the banks of Florida’s Suwannee River.
