Hierro Blanco’s Modern Love Story Exposes Shifting Attitudes of 1970s
Madrid, Spain (PRWEB) October 27, 2014 -- Author Hierro Blanco uses stream-of-consciousness verse to tell a tale of romance and the self-realization in his new novel, “Diving to the Bottom of Your Eyes” (published by AuthorHouse).
Set in early 1970s Madrid, “Diving to the Bottom of Your Eyes” tells the story of two young men who meet and fall in love. The book chronicles the last years of the very strict and conservative Francisco Franco regime and involves characters directly linked to the social and political establishment.
Blanco’s poetic love story serves a larger purpose: to show how the fight for equality has been long and tough. The moralistic environment of Franco’s Spain slowly gives way to embrace the free-spirit counterculture developed by the country’s younger generation of the 1960s.
An excerpt from “Diving to the Bottom of Your Eyes”:
“durable relations sometimes do not take a long time to consolidate
they may well be quickly built in very robust terms and also quickly destroyed
often all done by the same actors in absolute voluntary terms
human nature is surely volatile or even very treacherous”

About the Author
Hierro Blanco was born in France to Spanish and Portuguese parents. His conservative family background openly clashed with the wild French university environment of the late 1960s, when he was a teenager. He was encouraged to find his true identity through his interaction with peers and friends, and this pursuit was achieved in 1970, when he dove into the dark blue eyes of someone he met in Madrid.
