HomeValue.us.org is set to release a guide that will teach people trying to sell their homes how to throw the perfect open house event, the company announced yesterday.
“One of the reasons why summer is the biggest home buying season of the year is because of open houses,” a HomeValue.us.org spokesman said. “But how the owner runs an open house determines how successful it will be. They can't simply count on their real estate agent. They need to take charge of the open house experience if they want to get the most offers and start a bidding war for their home. We want to help consumers with that.”
The guide will be broken down into a series of articles and published on the company's website, through its social media channels and on the company blog, he said.
“Doing an open house correctly can add thousands onto the initial offer an owner will receive,” he said. “It will also increase the number of offers. But if they do it wrong, they'll make it very hard to sell their home and if they do get offers, they will be well under market value. That's not a risk a home owner really wants to take.”
The guide will contain practical tips on how home owners can create a great open house without spending a fortune, he said.
“There are things any home owner can do that will only cost a couple hundred bucks and a few hours of effort that can increase the value of any home by five percent or more,” he said. “This is the type of information we want to get out there.”
