Social Good’s Premiere Event Makes its Debut at Cannes with Horyou
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 03, 2015 -- Horyou, the Social Network for Social Good, presented Horyou Village at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. For 12 days, the values of social good were highlighted through the lenses of art, culture and diversity. This was a unique opportunity full of interaction with a global community of individuals, organizations and personalities making a difference through positive actions.
Horyou Village hosted an interview stage for local and international personalities. More than 70 interviews in six languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Chinese) were conducted with key influencers, non-profit organizations and social good promoters. Among them were three-star Michelin chef Marc Veyrat, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt, economist Jacques Attali, director Mark Osborne, tennis star Marion Bartoli and UNESCO ambassador Marisa Berenson. A special screening room featured Horyou TV documentaries and other socially oriented movies. Horyou Village gathered documentaries from more than 10 countries, including submissions by DocsDF (Mexico), React to Film (USA), Live Earth: Road to Paris (USA) and Albatros Media (Panama), as well as the French documentary “La Vie Comme Un Roman,” about François Chalais’ life.
More than 30 non-profit organizations on the Horyou platform were provided with dedicated spaces to showcase their work and meet attendees. Non-profits, social innovators and personalities from around world shared their knowledge and experiences, highlighting their contributions to social good in a wide range of fields and disciplines. Horyou Village featured as a central initiative five Global Cause Days committed to sharing knowledge, raising awareness and promoting solidarity among those devoted to the featured causes: Nature and Wildlife, Women Empowerment, Education for All, Innovation for Good and All for Climate.
Music played a key role at Horyou Village, with concerts each night featuring different artists. Among the performers were Aria Crescendo, Mike Massy, Carmen Maria Vega, Pendentif, Gwen & Tania, Amadeus Quartet and Licia Chery. To lend global exposure to this unique event, Horyou partnered with more than 50 international media outlets, including news organizations, television stations, bloggers and philanthropic institutions.
By organizing this event, Horyou sought to transform online interaction into concrete actions in the offline world, fostering meaningful exchanges and ideas that engage people to promote social good at all levels, especially through the arts. In the coming weeks, Horyou will be announcing updates regarding the launching of its mobile application as well as the second edition of the Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum (SIGEF 2015).
