Senior Cisco Security Expert to Address How Large Organizations Fail in Security at EC-Council Foundation Event in Huntsville, AL
Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) June 10, 2014 -- No matter how big your organization is, the possibility of having your network hacked is greater than it has ever been, according to Omar Santos, a senior incident manager of Cisco’s product security incident response team (PSIRT). Santos will speak at EC-Council Foundation's 2014 Rocket City TakeDownCon about how network and internet security is evolving, how the attack landscape is changing, and how large-scale cyber-espionage campaigns have been pwning networks for years. The IT Security conference is scheduled for Aug. 18-19 at the Dynetics Solutions Complex, 1004 Explorer Blvd., Huntsville, Ala.
Rocket City TakeDownCon is a highly technical forum that focuses on the latest vulnerabilities, the most potent exploits, current security threats, and most advanced cyber protection approaches. The best and the brightest in the cybersecurity field will share their expertise, giving attendees an opportunity to learn about the industry’s most current and important issues.
At Cisco, Santos mentors and leads engineers and incident managers during the investigation and resolution of security vulnerabilities in all Cisco products. His presentation at this summer’s conference will also cover how organizations mature in their security strategy to try to maintain a good security posture, but in many cases are unsuccessful.
With two days and two dynamic tracks, Rocket City TakeDownCon plans call for Day 1 to focus on the “Attack,” teaching delegates how even the most protected systems can be breached. Day 2 is slated to focus on “Defense,” challenging attendees to determine if their defense mechanisms are prepared to thwart nefarious and persistent attacks.
The Training Academy held before the conference (Aug. 14-17) will offer such classes as EC-Council’s Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CHFI (Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator), Certified Security Analyst (ECSA), Securing Windows Infrastructure, Advanced Network Defense and Advanced Penetration Testing.
Santos, one of several cybersecurity expert speakers, has more than 17 years of experience, including 13 years at Cisco, working with information technology and cybersecurity. He has designed, implemented, and supported numerous secure networks for Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. government. He is an active member of the security community, where he leads several industry-wide initiatives and standards bodies. Santos is the author of four books and numerous whitepapers, articles and security configuration guidelines and best practices.
Eric Lopez, EC-Council’s director of conferences and events, said, “Omar is a sought-after speaker in the cybersecurity field, and we’re excited to have him present at the second Rocket City TakeDownCon. We are expecting a sell-out crowd again this year to hear world-class speakers, get top-notch training, and valuable networking. We look forward to co-presenting with Dynetics again this year.”
Dynetics Chief Technical Officer Tom Baumbach said, “We were pleased with the outstanding response to last year’s conference and are delighted the EC-Council Foundation is bringing TakeDownCon back for a second year. We expect it to be even better this year.”
