Houston, TX (PRWEB) February 03, 2014 -- Mary Turner, MS, WHNP, is celebrating her 11-year anniversary at the Advanced Fertility Center of Texas. She joined the practice in 2003.
Turner specializes in infertility, gynecology, and hormone imbalances. Before joining the Center, she was a labor and delivery nurse at Memorial Hermann Medical Center. Prior to that, she was at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a research nurse in surgical oncology. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Houston. She’s currently pursuing a certification in functional medicine that will enable patients to be treated as a whole.
Besides her three other specialties, Turner also specializes in Polcystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder in women. There is currently no cure for PCOS, so managing symptoms are key. Early detection is also key as PCOS has been linked to developing several metabolic diseases such as diabetes and high cholesterol. Turner recommends routine checks every six months if a patient has PCOS, or even thinks they may have it. The check includes blood work, and an ultrasound. Advanced Fertility Center can help patients lower risk factors and symptoms associated with PCOS. There are not many places to go to get help with managing it, and Turner has a passion for helping patients stricken with it.
