JailInmates.us.org has been launched to make it faster and easier for consumers to access public criminal records in order to protect themselves and their family members, the company announced yesterday.
“People have the right to protect themselves by accessing public records,” a JailInmate.us.org spokesman said. “But given government bureaucracy, this can be time-consuming and difficult for the average person. We've found a way to automate the process so that consumers can get access to the information they need quickly and with as little hassle as possible.”
JailInmates.us.org has amassed a database with millions of local, state, and federal criminal records from across America, he said. The site is not affiliated with any government agency or organization.
“All anyone has to do is type in the name of the person they are looking for into our search bar,” he said. “Then, after paying a reasonable fee they'll have a report telling them whether or not that person have interacted with the criminal justice system.”
The company says they expect people to use their system when deciding whether or not to allow a new person to become part of their lives.
“If a consumer meets a person on an online dating site, they want to make sure they don't have a violent criminal record before they see them in person,” he said. “Or if someone new moves into their neighborhood, they want to make sure they aren't drug dealers before inviting them over for coffee.”
