Inventor and InventHelp Client Develops Monitoring System for Animal Safety (PND-4635)

The CHIP 3 is being submitting to companies by InventHelp, a leading inventor service firm.

Worried about the safety of the animals used for various human purposes, such as agriculture, ranching, racing, etc., two inventors from Franklinville, N.J., came up with a monitory system to protect their safety.

"We developed the patent-pending CHIP 3 to provide detailed information about an equipped animal's body location, temperature and gait. This enables the animal owner to:

1. Locate an escaped or lost animal through use of an app on their smartphone/tablet through use of an implanted device that is superior to a collar that can be removed or come undone.
2. Assess both hypothermia and hyperthermia so proper techniques needed to stabilize internal temperatures can be addressed.
3. Alert owner to gait imperfections that could signal signs of hip dysplasia and other skeletal malfunctions.

The inventors' personal experience provided the inspiration for their idea. "I initially came up with this idea as part of a class assignment," said one inventor. "As a follower of dog-sled racing, I wanted to address the problems that these dogs face in harsh weather. Many mushers will kill dogs who are injured and not valuable to them. To protect the safety of the animals, I came up with a way to monitor their status in real time."

The original design was submitted to the Philadelphia office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
