InventHelp Inventor Develops Ventilator Identification Aid (TPA-2110)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) September 12, 2015 -- "I am currently the manager of Respiratory/Pulmonary Services at a large academic hospital, and this invention is job-related," said an inventor from Clearwater, Fla. "We own 125 ventilators with multiple software platforms needed for various patient indicators. When the respiratory therapists receive a new order for a mode of ventilation they must come to the storeroom, which may contain many ventilators. They cannot tell which ventilator contains the software needed for their intensive-care patient. They must search each ventilator, and if the needed software is not contained on a ventilator, they now must call their colleagues and have each of them search the ICU storeroom for the needed ventilator. On some occasions, the ventilator may be in use on a different patient that doesn't need the specific functionality of the software in use. The equipment needs to be then changed out and another ventilator used for the patient. Then the other ventilator must be processed, disinfected and calibrated before the necessary software platform can be initiated on these very sick patients. This delays critical patient care, is hugely inefficient and a poor use of the therapist's time, and so not cost-effective and very frustrating for the therapist."
She developed the patent-pending ELECTRONIC COLOR CODING to allow for rapid identification of various software platforms present on mechanical ventilators. It enables therapists to select the ventilator with the necessary software quickly and easily. This improves the turn-around time of the life-saving mode of the ventilator being initiated. The unit prevents a therapist from wasting time. It increases efficiency and satisfaction. Furthermore, it creates harmony and teamwork in patient care.
