Severe weather such as hurricanes and tornadoes can uproot and toss around heavy structures and objects (sheds, trailers, roofs), which are not only expensive to replace but dangerous. "This inspired me to design a way to prevent this," said an inventor from Portsmouth, R.I.

He then created a prototype of the patent-pending GROUND IT, a system that provides reliable security for outbuildings, roofs, trailers, boats, vehicles, etc., during a hurricane, tornado or high winds. This prevents the structure or object from being thrown around, which helps avoid damage, injury, fatality and displacement of people.

The original design was submitted to the Boston office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
