Nurses Create Product for Bed-Ridden Patients - Designed by InventHelp Clients (ORD-2225)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) August 15, 2016 -- A team of nurses from Clermont, Fla., were searching for a way to prevent pressure ulcers on the heels of nursing home patients. This led them to design the patent-pending HEEL CRADLE, a product that supports a bed-ridden patient’s feet and ankles off a mattress.
The HEEL CRADLE elevates lower extremities to prevent the skin from constantly rubbing against a mattress. Thus, it inhibits the development of pressure ulcers on the heels, while helping to alleviate pain and discomfort in the feet and legs. This product is ideal for use in medical facilities, as well as in home health care applications.
The inventors were inspired through a desire to provide better care for their patients. “As a nurse, I often see nursing home patients with pressure ulcers on their heels,” said one inventor. “This product would support a bed-ridden individual’s feet off a mattress, which would help prevent the development of such sores."
The original design was submitted to the Orlando office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
