After wanting to assist individuals with below the knee amputations and limited range of motion, an inventor from Belleview, Fla., decided that there needed to be a device that fulfills the need for a dressing aid designed to allow amputees to more easily position a sock upon their stump.
The patent-pending PURDY STUMP AIDE STAND is comfortable, durable and practical. It gives the user a feeling of independence by allowing them to position the sock without asking for assistance. The PURDY STUMP AIDE also saves a substantial amount of time when dressing. A prototype is available.
“I have a friend who is an amputee. It would take him 45 minutes to put on a sock with a dressing stick. With my stand, he could do it in 3 minutes,” said the inventor.
The original design was submitted to the Tampa office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
