Sterile Wound Packing Instrument Invented by InventHelp Client (AVZ-1567)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) September 27, 2017 -- Many wounds need to be regularly cleaned and packed to ensure they properly heal. Whether the wound is a result of a surgical procedure or occurred from an accident or gunshot wound, they often have the potential to heal from the outside first, which can contribute to infections. Such wounds are packed in order to control the healing process and minimize the chance of infection or complications.
An inventor from Washington, La., has invented the patented SAFE T PACK, a medical instrument that is used to pack surgical wounds. "As a nurse, I have often packed wounds with a sterilized cotton swab with a wooden shaft, which would splinter or leave cotton fibers in the wound," said the inventor. "I felt there was a need for an improved device." SAFE T PACK serves as an improved alternative to cotton swabs with wooden handles that can damage healthy tissue or leave behind cotton fibers. Not only would it not leave behind debris that could cause irritation or infection, but it also improves the sanitation of the wound packing process.
This invention also allows the healthcare professional to document the healing progress by measuring the depth of the wound. It would appeal to both the nurse and the patient, as it is easy to use and allows the nurse to pack the wound quickly.
