InventHelp Inventor Creates Rehabilitation Aid for Injured Thumbs (DPH-129)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) October 03, 2017 -- An inventor from Lakewood, Colo., couldn’t find anything on the market to help with his stiffened thumb tendons after long immobilization, so he decided to develop a solution on his own. The patent-pending SUPPORT-N-REHAB is the result.
"When an injured thumb is immobilized for 4 to 6 weeks, the flexor tendon becomes very stiff and flexion is the biggest hurdle to overcome," said the inventor. "As I made progress in physical therapy for my injured hand, I built a splint to aid with flexion, instead of continuing to use foam tape to tape my thumb to my wrist. Both physical therapists and other patients liked the idea instantly. A custom-orthesis version is available only in that one clinic, and it's costly, time-consuming, bulky and not covered by most insurances. I've been encouraged to get my idea on the market, so I've decided to develop it."
This device allows for convenient and effective recovery of an injured hand. It helps stretch the thumb’s flexor tendon and improves thumb mobility, as well as loosens and strengthens the thumb. It also eliminates the need to pay for daily physical therapy, which saves time and money. Ergonomic, easy to use and producible in design variations, the SUPPORT-N-REHAB is ideal for hand-injury patients and the elderly.
The original design was submitted to the Denver office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
