Inventor and InventHelp Client Develops Improved Flash Drive (ROH-220)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) October 17, 2016 -- Today's devices are smaller than ever and can store large amounts of data. As a result, it can be devastating if a USB flash drive is lost or falls into the wrong hands, as the data may not be secure, and the user has to go back and redo whatever work was stored on the drive. To overcome the potentially distressing problem of misplacing or forgetting your flash drive and securing the data on that drive, an inventor from Ontario, N.Y., has come up with a solution.
He created a prototype for the XY DRIVE to remind the owner to remove the flash drive from the USB port before walking away from the computer. This prevents the owner from forgetting the flash drive. It ensures that the files saved on the flash drive are not lost or stolen, which enhances data security. All of this provides added peace of mind. The unit also could help the owner find a flash drive, as well as things to which the drive is attached (keys, etc.). Additionally, encryption/decryption feature is in development. The invention would be suitable for use in colleges and schools, offices, as well as organizations with sensitive data.
The inventor's personal experience inspired the idea. "As a college student, I am constantly saving, transferring and backing up my work onto a USB flash drive. I live in constant fear of leaving my flash drive behind, and someone else stealing it. It's not the drive itself that is valuable; it's the data stored on it. I was tired of having to purchase new drives to replace lost ones and having to redo already completed work when I misplaced a drive. This gave me the idea to create a more secure drive that would remain protected in the event it was left behind."
The original design was submitted to the Rochester office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
