To make homes and dwellings more energy efficient, an inventor from Upper Marlboro, Md., developed the C.H.E. DEVICE.

The invention closes off all open pipes that go to the outside of a house or dwelling. The unit conserves energy by keeping heat more efficiently during the winter. It also keeps out bugs. Additionally, the invention is producible in two different designs, each of which is easy to install.

The inventor's personal experience inspired his idea. "I invented this to save energy after observing smoke from a match go directly up a bathroom fan exhaust to the outside," he said. "I thought that this invention would keep more hot air indoors."

The original design was submitted to the Washington D.C. office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
