While we enjoy those delicious fillings between layers of our favorite cakes, we may not realize the effort it takes to keep the cake from breaking during the process. Thanks to an inventor from Azusa, Calif., that process has become much easier.
He developed the patent-pending Cutting Spatula to enable the user to cut and carry a half layer of cake more effectively than before. As such, it prevents cake from breaking during icing and decorating, avoiding the need to fix broken sections of cake. Furthermore, it eliminates wasted cake that falls apart and drops on the floor.
Other advantages are its convenience and the time, effort and expense it saves. It is also ideal for use in consumer as well as commercial kitchens. In addition, it is lightweight and durable, easy to use, clean and store, and affordably priced.
The inventor's inspiration came from his work. "As a chef," he said, "I needed a way to cut a layer of cake horizontally in half, remove the top half, add filling and replace the top half without breaking the cake."
