Ira Pope Helps Readers Overcome Temptation Using Faith
Cincinnati (PRWEB) March 11, 2014 -- Author Ira Pope is a firm believer that all people can overcome their temptations – no matter what their temptations are – if they learn the truth about who God is and have a strong and passionate faith in Jesus Christ. He aims to properly equip readers to win the battle with temptation through his new book, “Temptation: Lessons from Trials in the Wilderness: A Revelation of the Wilderness Trials of Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11” (published by WestBow Press).
Pope begins his book – the first of a planned discipleship series – by discussing the trials Jesus faced in the wilderness after his baptism. Pope notes how Jesus managed to overcome each of his temptations, citing numerous Bible passages as evidence for his belief that it was Jesus’ faith in God, his Father, that brought him through. According to Pope, true faith comes by learning the loving paternal character of God and understanding born again believers as His children.
“You can win the battle over temptation in your life and you can learn to walk with God in the very same way Jesus walked with God, the disciples walked with God and Abraham walked with God,” Pope writes. “You too, born-again Christian believer, can and will do the works that Jesus did and greater work than His, if you so believe.”
Pope believes that learning of God’s true character will help create the faith he says God desires. It is that faith that enacts the power of God’s Holy Spirit, Pope says. It is Pope’s belief that this coming together of faith and power is what will help believers overcome the big and small temptations of life. Pope seeks to promote a stronger sense of “the Lord Jesus’ victory in people’s lives.”
“Prayerfully, this book will change hundreds of millions of lives,” Pope decrees, “and will equip and empower people to become born-again believers, to realize, embrace and enforce the truth of God in them.”
