There are no grand-standers in this story. No one character is the hero. The team is the hero. - Roper

Chugiak, Alaska (PRWEB) August 14, 2014

Author and illustrator Carol Welty Roper teams up with her grandson, Isaac Bowers, to publish the new book “Good Knights for California Football” (published by Trafford Publishing). All the proceeds from sales of the book will go to after-school sports programs in Bowers’ community.

Set in the fictional town of Castle, California, “Good Knights for California Football” centers on five football-loving players, Brady, Leon, Jake, Martin and Lisa Marie. After-school football season has finally begun, and the five kids can’t wait to get out on the field.

Winning, however, will not come easy. The team must learn to work together if they ever want to make it into the end zone. Can they set aside their differences and put their strengths together to win the game?

“Good Knights for California Football” touches on a variety of relatable topics, including friendship, teamwork and gender roles in sports. Roper and Bowers hope to instill a positive sportsmanlike attitude in their readers.

“There are no grand-standers in this story,” Roper writes. “No one character is the hero. The team is the hero.”
