Islamic Investments proud and delighted to announce that its Emerging Markets Opportunities Fund achieved a net return of 15% in 2015. The fund, which invests in the debt of Emerging Market economies, has managed another year of strong returns in a market beset by macro worries.

Ahmed Khan, the Chief Executive Officer of Islamic Investments UK commented: “Islamic Investments UK are very delighted with the returns that the team continue to deliver to clients, it's a testament to their deep understanding of the markets that Islamic Investments able to navigate difficult conditions and still manage a good positive performance for our clients”.

2015 was a year of monetary policy divergence with the European Central Bank announcing an aggressive quantitative easing programme and the Fed hiking rates for the first time since 2006. China growth concerns prompted the People’s Bank of China into cutting rates and a devaluation of the renminbi that subsequently led to a stock market crash in August now known as “China’s Black Monday”. There was continued pressure on commodities prices, in particular oil which dropped to 11-year lows, given producers reluctance to cut supply and sluggish demand with the weakest global GDP growth post the 2007/08 financial crisis. Idiosyncratic issues in certain countries (e.g. financial sanctions in Russia, Petrobras scandal, ISIS incursions) were also at play and weighed negatively on global sentiment and emerging markets in particular.

Mark Harris, Head of Asset Management commented: “In a challenging year, Islamic Investments continued to deliver strong risk adjusted returns for both the hedge fund and long only portfolios in absolute and relative terms. Islamic Investments remain cautious in our investment approach but have been adding risk selectively. Entry levels are more attractive now than in 2015.”

COO Ali Jabbar Sheikh says Islamic Investments are getting many private and institutional investors from Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, India, Pakistan & USA who are mostly investing in Residential housing stock, UK Hotels and Student Accommodation.

Islamic Investments clients have a number of Muslim and ethical investors as members of our common interest group.

From talking to them, Islamic Investments know that a major attraction of investing via The Islamic Investments is that the business model is compliant with Sharia Law and is therefore suitable for those who wish to make an investment that complies with the Islamic faith.

There are no property finder’s fees to pay, there is no borrowing involved and no interest payments – investors simply share in the profits made.

Typically, investments make around 25% profit in a deal (split 50/50) and the property will be sold within 6 months of completion, providing investors with a high annual return (especially if you choose to re-invest).

Neither The Islamic Investments itself nor any of the SPVs that purchase the properties have any debt whatsoever.

Further, Islamic Investments believe what the team do is a highly ethical investment that is of benefit to society as a whole, as we are breathing life back into empty properties (which are badly needed to help reduce the housing shortage).

So investing through Islamic Investments is a Halal investment that complies with Sharia law and can provide investors with superb returns. Visit our property investments page to see the sorts of profits you could make.
