From author James De Franco comes “Italy from I to Y,” a tell-all memoir that highlights the author’s past and his observations of the people, events and places he came in contact with or encountered in his life. Eye-opening and mind-expanding, this open and clear-cut account is both a celebration of life in all its different shades and a story of the diversity of human experience.
“Italy from I to Y?” unravels the De Franco’s true story. He unbolted the locks to his personal life to let other people in on the experiences he has been through and the beliefs and principles he continues to embrace. This book will take readers on a worthwhile journey through his life — his birth, growing-up years, family, to the choices he made that made him the man that he is now. Through the book’s pages, he offers a rare glimpse of insight into some of the why he left his homeland, Italy, to become a perennial but happy migrant in Australia.
An excerpt from the book:
“The book, being an autobiography, I did my best to leave my ego out of it, not an easy task for us humans. I left out personal relationships, financial situations, and undue opinions on religion and personal politics or gossips. I also hope it is not my ego at this moment to suggest mentioning the fact that I have a clean police record, apart from the inevitable parking and speeding fines. But just in case it was my ego that suggested it, I will retaliate by saying that I have no sporting or other records. But once again it wants me to mention that in 1970, I was the first Italian to whistle, if not sing, a tune at the Sydney Opera House, beating Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli and Plácido Domingo at their game. Albeit from the roof and two years before completion.”
In “Italy from I to Y?,” De Franco shares his journey through life to goad others to explore the path towards unpredictability, leave the confines of one’s comfort zone, and jump into the unknown. Through his story, readers will find valuable insights and lessons they could use to make the right choices and live their lives meaningfully.
