Jason R. Abdale’s new historical text recounts Battle of Teutoburg
NEW YORK (PRWEB) September 16, 2014 -- Jason R. Abdale is fascinated by ancient tribal cultures, and this fascination is now the subject of Abdale’s new book “Four Days in September: The Battle of Teutoburg” (published by Trafford Publishing).
Abdale takes readers back in time to an ancient battle waged in the dark forests of northern Germany between Roman occupiers and the Germanic tribes. The leader of the Romans, Governor Publius Varus, was first and foremost a bureaucrat and administrator who was interested in making the Germanic province as Roman as possible. Leading the other side of the battle was Arminius, a German tribal prince, who wanted his people to be independent of Roman rule and to restore them to the independence they had known before their land had been conquered.
By doing his own research with primary and secondary documents, Abdale gives readers new insights into the Battle of Teutoburg Forest, as the battle of is commonly (but possibly incorrectly) known.
Abdale hopes his book would increase people’s interest in ancient military history and lead to increased discussion amongst students, professional historians, ordinary history buffs and historical re-enactors.
