Standout Receiver, Joe Hills, Joins Jacksonville Sharks
Jacksonville, Fla. (PRWEB) December 31, 2014 -- The Jacksonville Sharks announced that the team has made another major addition in free agency, as All-Arena wide receiver, Joe Hills, has joined the team. Hills has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a one-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 27-year-old Hills (6’4”, 220) heads to Jacksonville after spending the majority of the first three seasons of his Arena Football League career with the Tampa Bay Storm. Hills has quickly established himself as one of the top receivers in the league, most recently racking up 100 receptions for 1,252 yards and 38 touchdowns during the 2014 season.
Hills’ most productive campaign came in 2013, as he earned First Team All-Arena honors after catching 133 passes for 1,861 yards and 42 touchdowns. During that standout season, Hills had at least 100 receiving yards in 10 of his 16 games played, caught three or more touchdowns eight times and hauled in 10 or more receptions on five separate occasions. In one early-season game against the Utah Blaze, Hills grabbed 16 receptions for 259 yards and five touchdowns, a yardage total that stood as the best single-game performance of any AFL player that season.
Hills first broke into the League in 2012, seeing action with both Tampa Bay and the Spokane Shock. After seeing action in three games with the Shock, Hills joined the Storm during the latter part of the season, scoring 13 touchdowns in five games with Tampa Bay. Hills totaled 53 catches for 782 yards and 14 scores in his AFL debut.
For his career, Hills has totaled 286 receptions for 3,895 yards and 94 touchdowns. Hills has accumulated those totals in 38 games played, giving him averages of 7.5 catches, 102.5 yards and 2.5 touchdowns per contest.
A Florida native who attended Palmetto High School, Hills finished his collegiate career at Tennessee State University after spending two years at the University of South Carolina. As a senior in 2010, Hills led the Tigers with 40 receptions for 462 yards and four touchdowns.
