4WD Sponsoring Three Trails for Easter Jeep Safari

4WD is sponsoring three trails for this year’s Easter Jeep Safari, hosted by Red Rock 4-Wheelers in Moab, Utah: Metal Masher, Golden Spike, and Moab Rim. Each of these trails is a difficult ride – requiring skill, experience, and some killer truck and Jeep parts and accessories, but featuring some of the most spectacular views and intense wheeling in Moab.

4Wheel Drive Hardware is sponsoring three trails for the Easter Jeep Safari – a wildly popular, popularly wild, annual nine-day group trail ride in Moab, Utah from April 12 – 20. The three trails, Metal Masher, Golden Spike, and Moab Rim are tough, beautiful, and sure to put wheelers’ truck and Jeep parts to the test.

The Metal Masher Trail, running through Mirror Gulch – a trail named for its fondness of ripping off 4x4 mirrors, does not allow full size pickups because the ride becomes too narrow for them to make it through with their mirrors intact. However, it is a heck of a ride for Jeepers and smaller 4x4’s.

Red Rock 4-Wheelers Vice President Doug McElhaney describes the Golden Spike as the trail which “separates the men from the boys and the women from the girls.” Golden Spike connects Poison Spider and Moab Rim. One of the ride’s many highlights is the Golden Crack: an obstacle which each wheeler must overcome, as it cannot be circumnavigated. The length of the trail ensures a lengthy 12-hour drive – which is completely worth it.

The Moab Rim trail, according to McElhaney, “has one of the best views in Moab.” It’s one of the oldest trails in Easter Jeep, having debuted in 1968. It was the second trail ever to be offered for the Safari. The ride is difficult despite the fact that the trail remains close to the highway. “You’re not 100 yards from pavement and you’re in for some serious wheeling,” he says, “but if you get stuck, you can just walk to McDonald’s!”

This year’s Easter Jeep Safari will be the 48th to date, 30 of which have been hosted by Red Rock 4Wheelers. The Safari works hard to remain a family-friendly occasion for off-road enthusiasts of all sorts. It is not a race to the finish, but instead an exercise in skill, learning and camaraderie, which 4WD is proud to support.
