4WD Participating in Annual Polar Bear Plunge to Raise Donations
Columbiana, OH (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- 4WD, industry-leading provider of aftermarket Jeep parts and accessories, is taking part in the annual polar bear plunge into the frigid waters of Lake Milton in Ohio. Presented by the American Cancer Society, the February 22 BRR for a Cure event will raise money that will go toward researching a cure for cancer. This is the fifth straight year that 4WD employees have taken part to try to raise awareness and donations for the cause.
“Research is a vital component to finding a cure for cancer,” says Kelly Young, 4WD Internet Manager. “Our donation will be a part of our yearly donation for the Crawl to Cure Cancer.”
Young conceived of and launched The Crawl after she lost her mother to a brief battle with colon and liver cancer six years ago. Annual events where donations are raised that 4WD takes part in include the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival, and September’s 4 Wheel Drive Hardware Jamboree.
BRR for a Cure happens this Saturday at Lake Milton’s Craig Beach at 2 p.m. and registration begins at 12:30. The water temperature is forecasted to be a chilly 30 degrees and there will be nearby facilities where participants can change after their dip in the lake.
4WD has raised nearly $10,000 over the past five years by taking part in the polar day plunge event. In 2013, 4WD actively gave to cancer-related causes like the 2nd Annual Kickin’ Cancer with JJ Facebook Auction. Money raised went toward JJ Bland and his expenses from bone cancer treatment and two $100 gift certificates were donated by 4WD. Last year, 4Wheel Drive Hardware’s charitable donations totaled over $15,000, and over the last five years their donation tallies are over $60,000.
