Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan: Congrats to xG Technology on Army Contract
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 13, 2014 -- xG Technology Inc has been chosen as a subcontractor as part of an Army contract worth roughly $500 million, according to the Herald Tribune, June 25.
Industry analyst Jeff Kagan offers congratulations and comment.
“Congratulations to xG Technology on this big win with the Army contract,” says Wireless Analyst Jeff Kagan.
Science Applications International Corp. is the prime contractor in this project which will provide communications and network services to the Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center or CERDEC.
This contract also includes the Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate or S&TCD, says the Herald Tribune.
“I visited with xG Technology several years ago. At that time they were a young company with a great idea. I thought we might see rapid growth from them since they offered a solution to the growing wireless spectrum shortage crisis that was coming thanks to the direction of the industry,” says Jeff Kagan.
“Since that time xG Technology is still around, are are still working to grow their business. However we have just not seen them really explode with growth yet. Even though the wireless data spectrum shortage is still with us and still an industry threat,” says Technology analyst Kagan.
“I remember their presentation to me and still think they offer a useable and marketable technology. One of many that the wireless industry can use as it continues to grow. However I remain confused regarding why they have not grown more quickly, even though they have a valid solution to a real and growing problem,” says Tech analyst Kagan.
“So if others in the industry see them as a valid solution to a growing problem, the next question is will this Army contract translate into a higher profile and present xG Technology with more growth opportunities? I don’t yet know. We’ll have to keep our eyes on them and see what happens next,” says Principal analyst Kagan.
“xG Technology has a good idea. It will be interesting to keep an eye on them to see whether they continue to work hard yet struggle to advance, or whether they will get some real acceleration from this Army contract,” says Kagan.
