Virginia Property Rights Attorney Jeremy Hopkins Joins National Association of Eminent Domain Lawyers

Hopkins, a partner with Waldo & Lyle, P.C., has been appointed as the Virginia representative of the association. Owners' Counsel of America is a nationwide network of eminent domain lawyers dedicated to the representation of property owners in eminent domain and property rights litigation. Mr. Hopkins succeeds his partner, Joseph T. Waldo, who has been named as an Emeritus Member of the association.
Jeremy Hopkins dedicates his practice to exclusively representing private property owners throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia in condemnation, eminent domain, and other constitutional matters affecting owners’ private property rights. He earned his Juris Doctorate from William and Mary Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University. Following graduation from law school in 2002, he was admitted to the Virginia bar and joined Waldo & Lyle, P.C. in Norfolk. He is licensed to practice law in the trial and appellate courts of Virginia, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hopkins has fought to protect private property rights. He has successfully represented property owners before the Virginia Supreme Court and has litigated matters at every level of the state and federal courts in Virginia. He has participated in legislative study groups and commissions and has assisted in drafting property rights legislation including Virginia’s 2012 constitutional amendment limiting the use of eminent domain.
Mr. Hopkins frequently speaks at seminars designed to educate and inform landowners and business owners about their constitutional property rights. He is also a regular presenter at the American Law Institute–Continuing Legal Education’s national Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation conference as well as the CLE International’s state Eminent Domain Conference.
