Heartland Human Services Demonstrates Forward Thinking with Accreditation from The Joint Commission
Effingham, IL (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Heartland Human Services, a behavioral health agency serving the Effingham region for over forty years, recently earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in behavioral health care.
Heartland underwent a rigorous on-site survey in March of 2013. A team of Joint Commission surveyors evaluated Heartland for compliance with standards of care specific to infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management.
"In achieving Joint Commission accreditation, Heartland Human Services has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for the people they serve," says Mary Cesare-Murphy, Ph.D., director of behavioral health care accreditation at The Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission’s behavioral health care standards address important functions relating to the care of individuals served and the management of behavioral health care organizations. The standards are developed in consultation with behavioral health care experts, providers, measurement experts, individuals served and their families.
“We are pleased to be able to offer the Effingham region quality health services of this caliber,” added Jeff Bloemker, executive director at Heartland. “We feel this is an important credibility measure for our agency as we move into the world of integrated healthcare.”
