Kane Is Able to Unveil Natural Gas Trucks and New Trailers on August 18
Scranton, PA (PRWEB) August 14, 2014 -- Third-party logistics provider Kane Is Able, Inc. (KANE -- http://www.kaneisable.com) will hold a public event on Monday, August 18, 2014, to announce its entrance into the natural gas market. Pennsylvania Senator John P. Blake, owner Chris Kane, and company president/CEO Pete Westermann will give remarks.
The event will be held at 9:30 a.m. at KANE’s Administration Building in the Stauffer Industrial Park in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
KANE is expanding its regional transportation fleet with seven compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered Class 8 trucks. Manufactured by Volvo Trucks in Dublin, Virginia, the Volvo VNL day cabs feature a 12-liter Cummins-Westport ISX12 G engine.
KANE also is unveiling its new trailers at the event. KANE is augmenting its fleet with 100 new trailers manufactured by Great Dane North America in Danville, Pennsylvania. The trailers feature two striking pieces of art – the first design highlights KANE’s national footprint, “Coast to Coast,” while the second shows KANE’s logo with its new tag line, “Dependable People. Exceptional Logistics.” The first wave of 18 trailers were delivered in early August, with the remainder arriving in Scranton by early September.
The seven CNG trucks, new trailers, KANE’s vintage truck collection, and its rolling museum all will be on hand during the event to showcase the company’s evolution from the 1930s to the era of natural gas.
Due to its abundant supply, domestically produced natural gas is less expensive and cleaner burning than other fossil fuels. The CNG-powered vehicles will produce up to 20 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions and significantly less smog-producing pollutants than their petroleum-fueled counterparts. Advances in vehicle technology now make it feasible to use CNG-powered commercial trucks for long hauls and in the mountainous terrain of the northeastern and western states. The Volvo VNL day cabs are designed to have excellent maneuverability, and each truck can travel approximately 425 miles between fueling.
The commitment to fuel-efficient CNG-powered trucks is an important part of KANE’s sustainability initiative to reduce costs and minimize its carbon footprint. KANE manages 21 distribution centers across the United States, and operates more than 200 power units in its fleet. The new trucks will operate out of KANE’s Scranton, Pennsylvania, business campus.
