NFL Star Kam Chancellor Hosts Star-Studded Events in Hampton Roads
Norfolk, VA (PRWEB) May 12, 2016 -- Kam Cares Foundation — founded by Kam Chancellor of the Seattle Seahawks — will present Bam Bam’s Spring Jam Memorial Weekend Celebration 2016 — May 27 and 28 in Norfolk, Va. This community event will feature Chancellor and several recognizable names from the NFL, NBA, WNBA, and MLB. Bam Bam’s Spring Jam serves as the foundation’s largest fundraising event of the year — designed to support its mission to equip children from underserved communities in the Hampton Roads and Seattle areas with educational, health, and wellness tools and resources to improve academic outcomes.
“The growth of the Kam Cares Foundation and the impact we’ve had on children from low socioeconomic backgrounds is a true testament of what can be done when you work to uplift the community,” said Chancellor. “I always look forward to this event as an opportunity to share the mission of the foundation, connect with other athletes from the area, and have some fun with kids from my community — the same community that supported me when I faced similar hardships as a child.”
The star-studded weekend will kick off with an intimate, VIP Reception with Chancellor and celebrity guests on Friday, May 27 — hosted by Bruce Rader of WAVY-TV 10. Guests will enjoy live music by The Fuzz Band, while bidding on sports memorabilia autographed by celebrity athletes, such as Chancellor; Russell Wilson, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks; Ray Lewis, former linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens; Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas; and recently announced NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson. The Silent Auction will also include local staycation packages, excursions, and experiences. All auction items are now available for ONLINE BIDDING.
Weekend festivities will continue on Saturday, May 28 with the 7th Annual Family and Friends Memorial Day Cookout at Town Point Park — a free event and community favorite; followed by the Celebrity Basketball Game at the Ted Constant Center — hosted by Grammy Award winning DJ Babey Drew and Shaggy from Z104. The game roster consists of an impressive lineup of former and current superstars from the NBA, WNBA, NFL, and MLB to include Allen Iverson, Ticha Penicheiro (LA Sparks), Tyrod Taylor (Buffalo Bills), Richard Sherman (Seattle Seahawks), Marshawn Lynch (Seattle Seahawks), Brandon Browner (Seattle Seahawks), Tyrann Mathieu (Arizona Cardinals), Kyle O’Quinn (New York Knicks), Briante Weber (Miami Heat), Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (Green Bay Packers), Michael Cuddyer (New York Mets), EJ Manuel (Buffalo Bills), Cari Champion (ESPN), recording artist Pusha T, and several other athletes, media personalities, and community leaders.
In observation of Memorial Day, The Spartyka Foundation — a non-profit that provides resources for homeless veterans, wounded warriors, and Gold Star Families — will host a preliminary game featuring wounded warriors and law enforcement officers. The Celebrity Basketball ticket provides access to both games.
