Kathryn Designs Jewelry Showcases Statement Flower Necklace at GBK’s Celebrity Gift Lounge in Honor of Nominees & Presenters of The 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- Kathryn Designs Jewelry (http://www.kathryndesignsjewelry.com), in association with The Artisan Group®, is pleased to announce it will be showcasing on display a bold new floral-inspired statement necklace and selections from its upcoming men’s jewelry line at GBK’s Celebrity Gift lounge in Honor of the Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees and Presenters.
Celebrities and VIPs visiting The Artisan Group® display will find a Kathryn Designs Carnelian and Bronze Pendant Necklace nestled inside their The Artisan Group® swag bag. The by-invitation-only Gift Lounge is scheduled to take place September 20-21 at an exclusive location in Hollywood, California.
The central element of the Kathryn Designs display piece is a statement necklace that designer Kathryn Doll sculpted and fired using Bronze Metal Clay. Accented with ruby and garnet stones, Doll notes, “This collar style necklace was inspired by the sculptural possibilities of the bronze clay. The piece has great dimension and texture and nicely contrasts the hardness and strength of metal with a stylized, feminine shape that is bold but not over-the-top flashy.”
Also on display is an industrial-style men’s pendant and cuff that represent the designer’s upcoming men’s jewelry line. The pieces are fashioned out of bronze metal clay and tinted concrete and reflect Doll’s interest in juxtaposing traditional materials like metal with non-traditional materials like concrete.
The Carnelian and Bronze Pendant Necklace that will be included in The Artisan Group® swag bags is inspired by Doll’s fascination with ancient artifacts and relics. Visually it explores the intriguing mix rich, gemstone color and warm, metal glow. “This necklace has an elegant, artistic feeling that it appropriate for evening but that works for every day as well,” remarked Doll.

2013 has been a busy year for Doll. In addition to working on the Primetime Emmy Awards project, she has gifted her handcrafted jewelry to Renee Zellweger, Stephanie Drapeau and The Wendy Williams Show. Her designs were also selected for inclusion in The Artisan Group’s 2013 Mother’s Day Collaborative Gift Bag, which went out to some of Hollywood’s most stylish moms, including Kim Kardashian, Busy Philipps and Shakira. Kathryn Designs pieces were also included in The Artisan Group® Stylist Gift Bag initiative for wardrobe stylists at popular television shows “Once Upon a Time,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Scandal.”
Also in 2013, Kathryn Designs Jewelry has been featured in “WomanScope News Magazine” and the Doll wrote and had several jewelry making tutorials published in “The Maryland Women’s Journal.”
On top of all that, the artist recently made a cross country move from the east coast to Atlanta, Georgia with her partner of many years. “I am loving my new Atlanta home,” smiled Doll. “There is inspiration and excitement around every corner, and that can’t help but reflect in my work. I look forward to seeing what comes next.”

ABOUT KATHRYN DESIGNS JEWELRY
Kathryn Doll, the artisan behind Kathryn Designs (http://www.kathryndesignsjewelry.com), has been fascinated with creating jewelry since she pierced her Barbie Doll’s ears with a beaded straight pin as a child. Kathryn and her sister decided the occasional scratch from a pin sticking out of Barbie’s head was an acceptable risk in the name of adornment.
Over the years, Kathryn pursued art in many forms, such as painting, ceramics and collage work. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Art, a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She developed a career as a clinical art therapist and social worker. In 2005, when she “discovered” polymer clay and metal clay she started a journey to a new venture as a jewelry artist.
She has developed a unique style of creating mixed media jewelry using innovative techniques in polymer clay, resin and metal clay. Each piece of jewelry is meticulously handcrafted and features layered and luminous colors.
Kathryn works from her studio in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, lived for many years in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida and recently moved from Maryland.
