Keiser University Highlights Occupational Therapy Assistant Student Michelle Huey
Ft. Myers, Florida (PRWEB) December 16, 2015 -- Keiser University’s Fort Myers campus recently discovered one of their Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students is also a championship BMX racer who has received national, state, and regional awards for her racing.
A very mature nineteen year old Huey maintained a 3.33GPA while being one of eight selected to represent the United States of America at the World Championship in Belgium this past July. Huey began racing at the age of twelve and has managed to garner many distinctions in her sport during the years including being the National Champion, The number one girl racer in Florida for the fifth year in a row, as well as being her district and regional champion. In 2014 she won the Gold Cup.
“We are very proud of Miss Huey and her accomplishments both inside and out of the classroom. We are amazed that she finds time to do it all,” said Nancy Tedros, Keiser University Fort Myers Campus President.
When asked why she chose Occupational Therapy Assistant as her career path she shared, “I truly enjoy making other people’s lives better and I love the fact I can work with patients, ranging in age, lead better lives.” She followed up to explain that she enjoys problem solving and finding solutions to help others in order to make a difference.
Huey’s goals don’t stop after earning her existing accolades. Her next goal is to try out for the 2020 Olympics team for BMX racing because she views it as the ultimate athletic dream for any sport. Her current plan is to represent her country at the World Championship in May, located in Columbia, while continuing to work towards the Olympic stage.
