Kids’ Cancer Research Foundation Launches Booklet Aimed to Help Those Affected with Pediatric and Adult Cancer Find Answers
(PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- Kids’ Cancer Research Foundation (KCRF) is pleased to announce the release of a new booklet created to provide those affected by cancer answers to important life-saving questions in 8 clear steps. The booklet is called Steps to Hope: a systematic eight-step approach to helping you discover as many options as possible. Steps to Hope is available online at http://www.endkidscancer.org/support-us.
“This booklet is based on the many lessons I have learned during our daughter’s fight with childhood cancer,” said Frank Kalman, Director of KCRF. “In recent years I have begun to realize that our family had to make some of the most important decisions up front, when we knew the least. This is our attempt to create a clear, logical process where one has never been readily available.”
The booklet is designed to help patients, parents, and caregivers find answers to some of the most important questions, such as: How can I identify the doctors and centers with the most experience in my disease? How do I request a second and third opinion when I’m scared I’ll anger my oncologist? What’s the best way to learn about new options and clinical trials? Could I ever afford to take my child across the country to a top center?
Most important of all, this booklet is about creating a critical understanding: the doctors and medical centers you go to will make a huge difference in your battle with cancer.
“I learned that the harder you work to find answers in your fight with cancer, the more options you will uncover,” says Kalman. “And the more options you have, the more reasons you have to wake up each morning with hope.”
Steps to Hope: a systematic eight-step approach to helping you discover as many options as possible presents the following steps:
1. Adjust Your Attitude
2. Confirm the Diagnosis
3. Find the Best Medical Center For You
4. Build Your Team
5. Identify and Organize Information Sources
6. Make a Back Up Plan
7. Know Your Insurance
8. Know Your Financial Resources
Steps to Hope is available online at EndKidsCancer.org/resources; for a minimum donation of $10. 100% of the donations will go to supporting pediatric cancer research.

About Kids’ Cancer Research Foundation
The mission of the Kids’ Cancer Research Foundation is to provide financial support for research and clinical trials that will cure N neuroblastoma, with an emphasis on non-toxic treatments. Our narrow focus on N neuroblastoma is designed to increase the success of finding a cure. Less than half the infants and toddlers survive to adulthood. While the focus is narrow, the benefits derived will be broad. At the time of this writing, approximately 32 other cancers could benefit from advancements made in N neuroblastoma research. Some of the more commonly known are: breast cancer, kidney cancer, brain cancer, liver cancer, and skin cancer. Donations are highly encouraged at http://www.endkidscancer.org/support-us.
