About the Author
Kim M. Eckerman was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1959. After graduating from high school, she attended UMASS for a year before deciding to enroll at the CIA. After receiving her AOS degree at the Culinary Institute of America, she married her classmate, also a CIA graduate. They then moved westward to South Lake Tahoe where she gained her backbone in the industry working several years for a large casino. Two sons and six years later, they moved, very briefly, to Kansas City. Missing the mountains, they ventured to Jackson Hole where their third son was born. Her first executive chef position was achieved here. After some indecision, they moved to the northeastern part of the state, by the Big Horn Mountains. Here she worked several jobs as a chef and also taught professionally at both the college and high school level, as well as to the general public. After her husband’s death in 2004, Eckerman opened her very own restaurant, which eventually became their family business. She currently resides in Sheridan, Wyoming.
