LEID Products Keeps Officers Safe with SmartGuard Handgun Safe
Auburn Hills, MI (PRWEB) March 06, 2014 -- LEID Products, LLC., the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today introduced a new product, the SmartGuard Handgun Safe, to the enhance the BACS Asset Management System used for armory storage. The SmartGuard Handgun Safe safely secures a single firearm in a biometrically accessible convenient tamper-proof under desk mount storage unit. The new handgun safe is managed and configured through the BACS Kiosk to ensure proper asset accessibility, tracking and maintenance. Developed at the request of a federal agency, the new product is now available to law enforcement and government agencies that require such weaponry.
Similar to the BACS SmartRail Gun Rack, Electronic Access Cabinets, Key Cabinets and Electronic Modular Access Units, the SmartGuard Handgun Safe is managed and configured from the central BACS Kiosk so an administrator can enroll users, manage access permissions, view logs for tracking and ensure proper maintenance and accessibility. The SmartGuard is accessed through a separately mounted biometric reader, which identifies authorized users via fingerprint to unlock. While the SmartGuard is configured and reports its logged events back to the central location, it is also capable of offline operation. The unit will still allow access to the storage location by a previously authorized user in the event of an interruption in communication to the central location. A lockout feature, established by the administrator, limits the number of transactions that can occur without communication to the central location. The SmartGuard unit has a single cable input for both power and communication, utilizing a single Cat5 cable and the emerging PoE (Power over Ethernet) standards.
The BACS System eliminates potential liability while reducing the negative cost repercussions of human error in asset management. The system’s next generation technology powers security, control, safety, accountability and reliability in reporting. The system can be used in any organization that requires access to rifles, tasers, other armory assets and ammunition. The system has been implemented across industries where assets are of utmost concern within an organization’s property – i.e. military facilities, crime and research labs, law enforcement department, college and university campuses and now airports.
