Tanzanian International School in Moshi Launches New Scholarships with Lalafofofo Support
MENLO PARK, Calif., MOSHI, Tanzania, (PRWEB) November 15, 2016 -- The International School Moshi in northern Tanzania, in conjunction with Lalafofofo, is seeking support for a new scholarship initiative to bring educational empowerment to the next generation of Tanzanian students. The initiative, “African Leadership Scholarship—Making a Difference in Africa,” is seeking support to fund the program, benefiting talented East African students.
The International School Moshi (ISM) has announced that it is seeking support for a new scholarship initiative,“African Leadership Scholarship—Making a Difference in Africa,” which aims to bring educational empowerment to the next generation of talented East African students. ISM has earned a reputation for offering a world-class education to students from diverse backgrounds and cultures throughout Tanzania.
As the first school in Africa to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, ISM has an extensive history of working with local East African communities on projects that benefit the region’s future generations.
The African Leadership Scholarship is the latest in ISM’s dynamic scholarship roster designed to assist East African students who show potential but cannot afford the opportunity to attend ISM. Each year the school—ED Certified by NGOSource for U.S. grant-makers and U.S. tax payers—offers two scholarships for the (IB) diploma program at its Moshi campus, and four middle years program (MYP) scholarships, two for day students at the Arusha campus and two for boarding students at the Moshi campus. The African Leadership Scholarship is being established to benefit additional promising Tanzanian youths.
Each year the school receives numerous scholarship applications from students who can benefit significantly from its world-class education. The goal is to fund new scholarships through donors who are motivated to help support African students who have proven leadership potential.
An ISM education provides students with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to utilize their individual and academic qualities to realize their ambitions, whatever path they may choose in life. Making an exceptional education accessible to academically talented Tanzanian students previously attending a public government school, regardless of their background or financial circumstances, is particularly important to ISM.
The superior quality of ISM scholarship applicants means that those chosen to receive funding represent the best of the best among Tanzania’s most distinguished students. ISM has a 100 percent success record for obtaining fully funded undergraduate study placement for its scholars after graduation.
According to Gemma May, ISM Development and Alumni Officer, all ISM scholarship students go on to fully funded undergraduate study at the best universities in the US.
“Since 2002, our scholarship students have graduated and attended the top U.S. universities on full academic scholarships, including Harvard, Stanford and Yale Universities,” May says. “These universities offer a limited number of academic scholarships per year to Tanzanian students, and ISM students have a proven track record of procuring these scholarships and maintaining a high academic standard during their university careers in the U.S.”
ISM aims to raise funds for the “African Leadership Scholarship—Making a Difference in Africa,” scholarships by early January, 2017. Interviews for potential scholarship recipients will be announced at the end of January, 2017 and attendance will begin in August, 2017.
“We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to our scholarship programs at every level in the past,” May says. “However, we know that there are more prospective students who could benefit from an ISM education.
“We are reaching out to potential donors who understand the value of making a world-class education available to more academically talented Tanzanian students who would otherwise not be able to attend ISM.”
African Leadership Scholarship details and applications will be available to students on the ISM admissions / scholarship website page in January, 2017.
