Noted Los Angeles Educational Therapist Laura Drexler Launches New Website
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 08, 2014 -- Los Angeles educational therapist Laura Drexler has recently launched a new Internet website to promote her educational therapy practice. Drexler, who has been in private practice for the past ten years, believes that her new Internet presence reflects her holistic approach to helping students increase their learning potential as well as their cognitive and academic abilities.
“I wanted to develop my branding to reflect my values and my approach,” said Drexler. “I wanted the imagery and content to be driven by what parents and other professionals have observed about how I approach things. The colors, the images and words illustrate patience, love, motivation and hope, which is what educational therapy, as I practice it, really is about.”
Drexler, a life-long resident of Los Angeles, earned her M.A. degree in communicative disorders as well as a special education teaching credential from California State University at Northridge. She began her career as a speech and language therapist for Los Angeles Unified School District before becoming a master instructor of special education classes, experience she describes as “vitally important” to her approach and practice today.
“Working for LAUSD for so many years was an invaluable experience,” said Drexler. “To have any measure of success, you have to be able to motivate and empower those students; you have to know how to build self-esteem on top of teaching the normal tools of reading and writing. It’s all about being able to create a stimulating and innovative learning milieu that can be tailored to individual students.”
According to Drexler, effective education therapy is individualized, based on a student’s specific learning profile, strengths and weaknesses. It is used to help students who may have learning disabilities such as dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder as well as a myriad of other diagnoses and conditions that interfere with a student reaching his or her highest level of proficiency.
Drexler, who works closely with - and receives referrals from - such prestigious schools as Oakwood, Buckley, Milken and Campbell Hall, states that her unique approach is effective for students of all ages and all levels “to help improve their learning potential.”
“No matter what a child’s diagnosis is, I meet my students where they are at, academically, emotionally and socially, within an environment of respect and non-judgment. I empower students to believe in themselves,” says Drexler. “I believe my new website reflects, in word and imagery, the values that are at the heart of my practice.”
