Financial Poise™ Airs “Business Tax Law-101," Ep. #5 of One Hour Tax School 1.0-Tell Me What I Need to Know Webinar Series, Premiering May 24th through West LegalEdcenter
(PRWEB) May 17, 2017 -- Looking for a bird’s eye understanding of the rudimentary principles of a complex area of law? Interested in a much needed refresher on an issue that has rapidly evolved in recent years? Short on time? This Financial Poise webinar series explores the essential building blocks of important legal concepts facing business people.
The 5th episode of the series, One Hour Law School 1.0 - Tell Me What I Need to Know, "Business Tax Law - 101" (Register Here) airs on May 24th and features Moderator Michael Brandess of Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Hammer LLP. Michael is joined by Andy Howlett of Miller & Chevalier, Donna Hartl of Golan Christie Taglia and Adam Grais of Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Hammer LLP.
The federal tax code is more than 2,500 pages long, and it doesn’t even cover state and local taxes that a business must deal with. Suffice it to say, this webinar will not make someone an expert tax attorney. It is, rather, designed to provide a tour of the landscape. Topics include: the basic differences, from a tax perspective, between S-corps, C-corps and limited liability companies (LLCs); basic tax issues when buying/selling a business; the basics of sales and use taxes; the basics of employment taxes; “estimated taxes” (which is an issue for the sole proprietor, partner, S corporation shareholder, and/or a self-employed individual); tax incentives; and the basic tax issues involved in closing a business.
Each episode is delivered in Plain English understandable to business owners and executives without much background in these areas, yet is proven to be valuable to seasoned professionals. Each episode in the series brings you into engaging, sometimes humorous, conversations designed to entertain as it teaches. And, as with all Financial Poise Webinars, each episode in the series is designed to be viewed independently of the other episodes, so that participants will enhance their knowledge of this area whether they attend one, some, or all of the episodes.
