This means that a person walking out of bankruptcy is no longer personally liable for the debts that have been discharged in the bankruptcy.
Lincoln, NE (PRWEB) October 04, 2016
Bankruptcy attorney John Lentz, co-founder of Lepant & Lentz, PC, LLO, will be presenting at the Annual Meeting of the Nebraska State Bar Association on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Embassy Suites Conference Center, 12520 Westport Pkwy., La Vista, NE. Lentz’s speech is titled “Bankruptcy: Everything You Never Wanted to Know About Not Getting Paid.”
Furthermore, in an effort to illustrate the nuts and bolts of bankruptcy, some of which will also be addressed at the Nebraska State Bar Association meeting, Lentz recently recorded a segment for the NALA’s North American Speaker Series (NASS).
“A debtor files bankruptcy primarily for the discharge of debt he or she receives at the end of the case,” said Lentz in his NASS segment. “Under the bankruptcy code, all debts are discharged as to the person filing bankruptcy, subject to some exceptions. This means that a person walking out of bankruptcy is no longer personally liable for the debts that have been discharged in the bankruptcy.”
