MUM Celebrates Literature Reunion 2013
Fairfield, IA (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- It’s been four decades in the making, but this Labor Day weekend, August 30–September 2, Maharishi University of Management’s Literature majors are having their first reunion. If you’re not an MUM alum but love reading and writing, you’re invited, too. Everyone will literally have lots of fun! And if you can't attend in person, join us for the livestreamed event. http://www.mum.edu/mumtv
Dr. Rhoda Orme-Johnson is hosting the event, along with the alumni office and the faculty of the MUM Literature Department.
Rhoda was a founding faculty member at MIU (MUM was formerly known as Maharishi International University) and for years head of the Literature Department. She, along with Dr. Susan Anderson, recently edited The Flow of Consciousness: Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on Language and Literature, which is the first volume in a series covering Maharishi’s lectures.
"This is a milestone event for the alumni office and the literature program," says Anna-Maria Petricic Cornell '95, Executive Director of Alumni Relations at MUM. "For the first time in the history of our university, alumni and former faculty are coming together to celebrate one of our founding departments. We come to share how the study of literature has shaped our lives. We come to remember that what had brought us here, to this small town in Iowa, was not just the love of the written word and the analysis of great literary works. We came to MUM to experience the source of literature in our own consciousness and to claim the creativity and freedom that became unleashed as a result. We are proud to welcome our grads home."
Listen to interviews Cheryl Fusco Johnson produced in The Studio with faculty members Diane Frank, Silvine Farnell & Terry Fairchild in Part 1 and Rhoda Orme Johnson, Nynke Passe, Tim Truby, with Alumni organizers Anna-Maria Cornell & Matthew Kendz in Part 2.
