Writer Lucas Kelly uses poetry to explore addiction, recovery and faith
LONDON (PRWEB) August 08, 2016 -- “It is true indeed that without God there is no love. So why do we continue to search endlessly for love in earthly things?” This question, posed by writer Lucas Kelly, is at the heart of Kelly’s new poetry collection, “A Life Less than Ordinary” (published by AuthorHouse).
“We seem oblivious to the fact that God exists,” continues Kelly. “I know he exists because he brought me through a turbulent story which I couldn't truly fathom.”
This turbulent story is told through poetic verse in “A Life Less than Ordinary.” Immensely intimate and unabashedly candid, the collection takes readers on a dark, winding ride through Kelly’s many battles, including his battle with substance addiction. Much of the book takes place during Kelly’s teenage years, a time in his life that he calls a “rollercoaster ride.”
“Nature, love and emotions play a key role in this book,” he notes. “Many young people will be able to relate.”
Now a respected writer, Kelly delivers to his fans a clear message: focus on your talents. “Express yourself with what you are good at and compose yourself to become better,” he advises. “There is always a better way to express your difficulties rather than the negative things that will pull you deeper into the darkness.”
