Lyle Markey’s New Novel Challenges Readers to Live a Heroic Life
Wamego, Kan. (PRWEB) October 03, 2013 -- Author Lyle Markey draws upon his real-life experiences as a firefighter in “The Toll of Valor” (published by WestBow Press), the first book in his new series of thrillers.
“‘The Toll of Valor’ is written from a Christian worldview, but with a distinctive edge,” Markey explains. “With the adult Christian reader in mind, the action is realistic and captivating; relationships developed between the characters are engaging and heart-felt. The tragic events are not sugarcoated, yet there is no vulgarity.”
Set in a fictional town in the Flint Hills of Kansas, “The Toll of Valor” follows the romance of Duke Marlin, a young man born into a family of firefighters and raised in the tradition of duty, honor and valor. Julie Goodin is meant to be his girl, but the perils of Duke’s firefighting and the threats of his nemesis, Deward, form a perfect storm of tragedy that may forever tear the young lovers apart.
“From political figures to star athletes, recent scandals have left us few worthy role models,” Markey notes. “My book encourages everyone to strive for life lived with duty, honor and valor.”
