MGE and Top Dental Clients Join Forces with U.S. Marine Corps to Fight War on Poverty Receiving 30 Commander Awards
St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) February 14, 2014 -- MGE Management Experts and their top dental clients joined the ranks of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves to wage war on poverty in the U.S. This week 30 Commander Awards were given to MGE and supporting dentists for the tens of thousands of disadvantaged children they helped through funds raised for the Toys for Tots program this holiday season.
According to the National Center of Children in Poverty, over 16 million children in the United States live below the federal poverty level. This is 22% of all children. Poverty can be horrifying for children and contribute to social, emotional and behavioral problems as well as impede their ability to learn.
In 1947, Toys for Tots began in Los Angeles when Major Bill Hendricks and a group of Marine Reservists collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. In recent years the program has expanded and now gives a book along with a new toy to children - a surgical strike towards illiteracy & poverty.
One of the keys to battering down the door to a brighter and more prosperous future for these children is a good education. “We believe that reading is the most important skill a young child can learn and that the gift of a book along with a toy can make a significant contribution to helping break the cycle of poverty one child at a time. It was very rewarding that our team raised funds to help tens of thousands of children this holiday season,” said Dr. Gregory A. Winteregg, DDS, Vice-President, MGE Management Experts.
Steven A. Hummer, three-star Lt. General USMC Commander Marine Forces Reserves and H.P. Osman, three-star Lt. General USMC (RET) Coordinator recognized 30 MGE Executives and their top dental clients with the Commanders Award for their outstanding support on behalf of the U.S Marine Corp Reserves. “Your generous contributions have enabled the Marine Corps to bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children,” said the Marines.
