MRIS Opens Nominations for Adam D. Cockey, Jr. Community Leadership Award
ROCKVILLE, MD (PRWEB) July 15, 2014 -- MRIS, the industry-leading Mid-Atlantic Multiple Listing Service (MLS) that facilitates nearly $125 million a day in real estate transactions, announces its call for nominations for the third annual Adam D. Cockey, Jr. Community Leadership Award.
The award, named after former MRIS Chairman of the Board Adam D. Cockey, Jr., recognizes real estate professionals who have demonstrated Cockey’s unsurpassed advocacy towards community service. Cockey devoted 40-plus years to the real estate industry and philanthropic efforts. The recipient of the Adam D. Cockey, Jr. Community Leadership Award portrays leadership, humanitarianism, courage, enthusiasm and dedication to the community.
“Adam served as an exceptional role model for the real estate community and was an instrumental part of MRIS’s growth,” said Jon Coile, MRIS Chairman of the Board. “Our previous two award recipients truly embody Adam’s devotion to the community and through this year’s award, we look forward to highlighting and honoring yet another deserving real estate professional’s philanthropy efforts.”
Nominations are open now through August 15, 2014. The winner, who will be announced in the fall, will receive a $3,000 donation made in their name to a charity of their choice in addition to a $2,000 award.

ABOUT ADAM D. COCKEY, JR.
Adam D. Cockey, Jr. served as a positive role model for real estate professionals throughout MRIS’s community and beyond. During his lifetime, Cockey was the recipient of numerous industry honors and held multiple executive positions including the Maryland Association of REALTORS® Lifetime Achievement Award, 1996 Maryland State REALTOR® of the Year and the 2010 Chair of the Real Estate Trends Forum for the National Association of REALTORS®. Cockey also served as the MRIS Chairman from 2001-2011. Posthumously, Cockey was awarded the Greater Baltimore Board of REALTORS® Life Achievement Award. Along with his professional achievements, Cockey demonstrated the virtues his namesake award values with active involvement in numerous community and charitable organizations including the Baltimore Symphony Foundation, the League for the Disabled, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
