MRIS Cares Announces Fourth Annual Award Honoring Real Estate Professionals For Their Philanthropic Efforts

Nominations for the annual Adam D. Cockey, Jr. Community Leadership Award are open now through October 31, 2015.

Through this year’s award, we look forward to highlighting and honoring another deserving real estate professional for their philanthropic efforts.

MRIS, the industry-leading Mid-Atlantic Multiple Listing Service (MLS) that facilitates nearly $125 million a day in real estate transactions, today announced its call for nominations for the fourth annual Adam D. Cockey, Jr. Community Leadership Award.

The award, named after former MRIS Chairman of the Board Adam D. Cockey, Jr., recognizes real estate professionals who have demonstrated Cockey’s unsurpassed commitment towards community service and activism. Cockey devoted over 40 years to the real estate industry and philanthropic efforts. The recipient of the Adam D. Cockey, Jr. Community Leadership Award portrays leadership, humanitarianism, courage, enthusiasm and dedication to the community.

“Our previous award recipients are exemplary real estate professionals who truly embody Adam’s unrelenting effort to help others,” said Jon Coile, MRIS Chairman of the Board. “Through this year’s award, we look forward to highlighting and honoring another deserving real estate professional for their philanthropic efforts.”

Nominations are open now through October 31, 2015. The award winner, who will be announced in December, will receive a $3,000 donation made in their name to a charity of their choice in addition to a $2,000 award.

ABOUT ADAM D. COCKEY, JR.
Adam D. Cockey, Jr. served as a positive role model for real estate professionals throughout MRIS’s community and beyond. During his lifetime, Cockey was the recipient of numerous industry honors and held multiple executive positions including the Maryland Association of REALTORS® Lifetime Achievement Award, 1996 Maryland State REALTOR® of the Year and the 2010 Chair of the Real Estate Trends Forum for the National Association of REALTORS®. Cockey also served as the MRIS Chairman from 2001-2011. Posthumously, Cockey was awarded the Greater Baltimore Board of REALTORS® Life Achievement Award. Along with his professional achievements, Cockey demonstrated the virtues his namesake award values with active involvement in numerous community and charitable organizations including the Baltimore Symphony Foundation, the League for the Disabled, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
